Thesis

4D Monitoring of Internal Damage Crack Propagation in Civil Infrastructure Using Multichannel 3D Ground Penetrating Radar

Summary

The aims of the research are to (i) understand the propagation of damage cracks in a porous material by using Multichannel 3D GPR to monitor changes in damage crack dimensions over time (4D monitoring of crack dimensions) and (ii) validate the experimental outcomes in terms of damage propagation using Finite Element Models (FEM).

Why my research is important

This research will provide managers of infrastructure with a more accurate methodology to better understand and monitor the propagation of damage cracks in a porous material (e.g. concrete structure).
