Impacts of polymer addition on geotechnical properties of tailings

Summary

Attempting to assess the impacts that polymer addition to slurries will have on tailings at depth.

Also studying the use of a centrifuge to perform accelerated consolidation testing, and the impacts of evaporation on critical state liquefaction assessments of tailings.

Why my research is important

Polymer addition is rapidly increasing in popularity to improve tailings management. However, a number of significant unknowns remain regarding the impacts of these polymers. Indications to these impacts are important for their use in industry around the world.
